Zahra Bhutani is a senior compliance and regulatory expert with approximately 15 years of experience in securities compliance, in Canada and the US. Prior to joining Comarm, Zahra was the Director of Compliance at Fidelity Clearing Canada (FCC), a clearing firm providing execution, clearing, custody and back-office solutions for brokerage firms and portfolio managers. Prior to that, she was Director of Compliance at RBC Capital Markets where she was responsible for the advisory and surveillance functions related to Listed & OTC Derivatives, Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities.
Zahra was also Vice President, Compliance at National Bank Financial before joining RBC and was responsible for all compliance related to equities trading in Financial Markets and Wealth Management. She also held the role of Vice President, Compliance at ITG Canada Corp. as well as compliance roles with TD Waterhouse and TD Securities.
Zahra has been an active participant in several industry committees. She was the Chair of the IIAC Derivatives Committee (2016) and IIROC CLS Education Sub-committee (2007); she is also an active member of the IIROC National Hearing Committee with ongoing participation on disciplinary hearing panels.
She has an MBA from Dalhousie University and was the Founding President of TD Bank’s Supreme TD Toastmasters Club (2005). She has also helped organize multiple events for Women in Capital Markets.
